Welcome

This website is about my diploma thesis which describes the results of an exploration exercise on the fluvial stratigraphy of a small catchment area in Lorraine, France. Data were collected from 55 drillholes along three cross-sections, and recorded in a SQL database. The data were analysed with a custom-written program, and interpreted according to the fluvial architecture concept. The results are comparable with other NW European floodplains, which comprise Early to Late Holocene, subatlantic floodplain sediments containing organic components, as well as Late Pleistocene peat bog and coarse-grained sediments from the last Glacials.
